It was not too long ago
When my soul was firmly anchored with ego
Body & mind experienced such joyful pleasures
All desires projected in the boundless exterior
Wealth, materials, praise, power, status
Five egoistic spokes that mattered, nothing else
Out to prove to the world at large
I was king of the seven seas & the floating barge
This was not meant to last, karma wanted another path
Much to my dismay, everything took a turn with wrath
All I thought mine, suddenly no more existed
Back to what I was born with, emptiness
Beaten was the body, distraught in mind
In this deplorable state, truth chanced to find
Do they really matter, evanescent objects of illusion?
Better to turn inwards, realize the only redeeming solution
Once that anchor was broken, thrown away on land
Freed was the soul, across the cosmos it expands
Swimming through the infinite sea of Ultimate Reality
Here, there are no things, not even an individual identity
Here, we are all One !
