No Need To Light My Fire
(A Tribute to Jim Morrison And The Doors)
There
will soon be that instance
Not far, by any means, in distance
When body & mind will fall away
To never come alive again
Death is what they call it
No thought or deed to next commit
Do I fear you in any way
Must be kidding if that’s what they say
Meeting with you divine friend daily
Has been a permanent strength gained
Primordial darkness all around
Without light, thought or sound
This time I hope you welcome me
Empty-handed I don’t want to return & be
Let me rejoice in your arms I pray
Buddy, let’s get together and play
I know you told me several times before
Cast all those ungainly desires ashore
And swim fearlessly through space and time
For, exists not any reason even worth a dime
Hindu tradition demands there be a pyre
Conditioning has never been my attire
So even if all others command for it
Will you merge me into energy of your emit
And, even if Morrison or that LA Woman insist
I beg, let there be no need to ‘Light My Fire’
